Bio
Sonora grew up in Texas and Indiana, moved to L.A. at age 18, and went back to Texas for college, earning a BA in Acting. During that time she started an all women's theater company, SheTroupe, went to Europe, studied at American Conservatory Theater in San Fransisco, and eventually moved to NYC to pursue a full time career in acting. Her first production in NYC was Mo in The Kathy and Mo Show. By day she was an Intellectual Property Paralegal and by night, she has performed as Oprah's Baby Nurse on The Chappelle Show, Betty on ABC's Romantically Challenged with Anna Camp and Kyle Bornheimer, and costars on NBC's Chuck and HBO's Boardwalk Empire, directed by Martin Scorsese. She studied at The Groundlings and graduated from UCB New York.
She enjoys independent film festivals, Shakespeare, Gyrotonics and Pilates, hiking, and biking. While in NYC she has received an MFA in Acting from Brooklyn College, studied with Catherine Fitzmaurice, Patsy Rodenberg, and took evening classes at Julliard. She is also a quilter and loves sewing and crafts.
She participates in windowbox gardening, buying local and buying green, and spent 2010 not buying anything new. For 2011 she is not buying anything made in China to both promote awareness about the economic danger of exporting clothing, technology, and household items' manufacturing, and to promote awareness of their child sex slave trade.
She is bicostal and travels between Manhattan and L.A. for work in TV, indie films, and improv & theater. Her solo show has been in development in NYC since July 2011 and has recently been requested for review for two curated shows in Los Angeles and New York.
